Don't go solar

The USA uses about 4000 billion KWh of electricity every year. The current renewable energy budget is about 52 million, so let's say they up that to 100 billion a year, every year, for 100 years. 3.3 million homes get a 6.4KWh system installed for free, at a cost of 30K. For 5 solar hours per day (a reasonable average across the United States), you'd generate about 40 billion KWh of solar energy. Wait about a hundred years, spend about 10 trillion, and you'd have a renewable energy source.

Go solar

For half the cost of the iraq war, the federal government could give away a 6.4KW solar system on every new house built in the US, potentially generating 9.6 trillion watts of renewable energy every year.

To put 9.6 trillion watts in perspective, in 2006 only 1.7 trillion watts of solar generating systems were installed in the entire world.

Projects

The truck

Concrete patching the driveway before I etch/epoxy it.

Painting the house.

etch/paint the concrete pathways around the house.

Studying, of course.

The new tank less water heater has a venting issue that will probably make me have to move and re-vent it.

Fun with computers

Well, my ethernet interface on the motherboard went kaput. Basically it was generating packet loss errors on the transmit side. I sent it back for a new one.

It's been too windy to paint lately, but I'll post some pictures when I have a computer again....the portable is pretty limiting. Basically I read email, news, and that is about it.

I'm taking thomas up in the mountains for some backpacking this weekend. We'll probably do hells hole trail up near echo lake.

Sunday, Almost

It's almost Sunday...just a few more hours...meaning what?

Another week. Another week of studying, watching the grass grow, letting Thomas out 15 times a day, hiking in the mountains, weighing yourself 4 times, surfing the web for random bits of entertainment, Catching the eye of at least 7 amazingly good looking women at Starbucks, not sleeping worth a shit, wondering what the point might be, spending money you don't have, house projects that never seem to end, the taste of chocolate, reliving old memories, anticipating the end of most TV shows worth watching, random days at the gym watching other people get sweaty too.
